so here's what's been happening since i got back from Easter weekend.

for the first entire week that i was back, i was constantly tired. it was ridiculous. no matter how much i slept, no matter if i drank caffiene or not, nothing worked. until that friday. exciting stuff was happening last weekend. this must have woken me up. i don't know. it was weird.

friday night there was a paint party at one of the frat houses as a fundraiser for something that has to do with the kirskville YMCA. it was pretty legit. although i don't recommend getting paint thrown into your eyeballs. that doesn't feel super great. it burns a little. but my vision survived the party. and i came away with some pretty cool after pictures, which i posted via instagram to facebook, twitter, and tumblr. (social media explosion!) the paint was washable, though, and it came right out of the clothes i washed. i still have the shirt hanging up because i don't want the color to come out. i don't know what i'm going to do. but did get some cool shoes out of it. i bought some ked look-alikes for ten bucks at walmart, and i don't plan on washing them ever. so at least there's that. and if you have any suggestions about what to do with the shirt, do let me know :)

then on saturday, iron & wine came. it was pretty great. except he's really mellow, so it was like he sang everyone to sleep (but we stayed awake cause it was too good to sleep through). there was supposed to be a tornado watch or something like that that night, but the weather was totally fine by the time the concert was over. i think iron & wine sang the storm to sleep. i recommend listening to him. he's very...relaxing.

so between getting back and this past weekend, i registered for next semester. i got waitlisted on a couple of my classes, but spots opened up in the last couple of days so i am now fully enrolled in 15 credit hours for next semester. i'm taking: anthropology of gender, us history & historiography part two, spanish grammar and composition, basic statistics (ew), and exploring religions. sounds pretty good to me :) the only thing i'm disappointed about was that i didn't have enough time to cram in elementary russian, which is a five credit hour course because it's every day of the week. it was at the same time as my history class. *sigh* perhaps next year.

our health teachers sent out an email last week about our final (this class is online). we can take it at any time during finals week, but we only have an hour. there's no backtracking allowed (sometimes on online tests/quizzes, you can go back to previous questions. it's super helpful because you usually remember something later.) and it's 100 questions. sixty minutes for a hundred questions, with no backtracking?!! kate and i have decided that this is absolute crap. because all of our quizzes for this class have had the number of minutes allowed equal the number of questions. plus, for non-online finals, you get like two and a half hours or something like that to take the thing. this is so not even fair. i'm legitimately considering writing them a letter telling them how crappy that is.

and the last thing i have to say about last week is concering an event that amnesty co-sponsored. we had a speaker come in to talk about the new health care law, so we would know what was going on and what the legislation actually includes. the speaker is a law professor at SLU, and she was really good. i learned some things that i did not know. did you know that prior to this new law, 72% of insurance policies did not cover maternity costs? that's crap. i know this law has been under a lot of fire, but it really is a good thing. like the speaker pointed out, no piece of legislation is perfect, but some are good starting-off points, and this is one of those.

so...yeah. that's all i have to say about that. finals are coming up week after next! i don't actually have very many finals. most of them are just final projects/papers that are due on the day of the final. i really only have two tests. yay! i'm looking forward to getting out of here!
